Drop! Cover! Hold!

During the school holidays there were some earthquakes in Wellington.  We have been talking about what we need to do if there is an earthquake at school.  We had an earthquake drill in our classroom.  We pretended the ground was shaking.  We practiced curling our body up tight like a turtle.  We covered our heads and held on to the table leg.  We have to stay under the table until the ground stops shaking.

Joshua and Eva wrote some super star stories about what what we do in the classroom if there is an earthquake.

In an earthquake we get under a table till the ground stops shaking and we push the chairs out of the way.  You have to curl up your body like a turtle.

In an earthquake we stop, drop, cover and hold the table leg.

Watch these clips to see how you can become a turtle, and keep yourself safe in an earthquake too.
(You might have learned this song at kindy or daycare.)

I wonder if you know what to do if there is an earthquake at home? Do you have a plan?
Maybe you could talk to your family and have an earthquake drill at home too!

Leave us a comment and tell us what you do in an earthquake.
