Using the ipads

Today we went to see E7.   We used the ipads together.

We had lots of fun with our buddy discovering a new app called Reading Raven.   We had to match alphabet letters to alphabet sounds, and practice tracing over letters correctly.

Mrs Graham and Miss Pauley thought we were all amazing at taking turns, listening to each other and helping each other when it got tricky.

Tino Pai E6 and E7!!  What super star learning and super star team work. We had a fabulous learning session together!

Reading Raven is a real favourite of ours!

Parents and Whanau...
If you have an ipad you might like to purchase the reading raven app.  It would be  great for your child to use as part of their home learning!

Buddy Time

Today we met our buddy class for the first time.  Our buddy class is A2.  They are in Year 4 and their teacher is Mr O'Sullivan.  We can't wait to do lots of fun activities with them this year.    We think it is really cool to get to know some big kids and another teacher at our school.
We had our first buddy reading session together.   Our buddies read us a library book.   We had to tell our buddy what our name was.  We had to ask our A2 buddy 'what is your name?'  We felt a bit shy but we loved listening to them read to us.
Watch our slideshow and see us reading with A2.  We can't wait to see our buddies again soon!

O

Our buddy class did a blog post about reading with us.

T-Shirts

This week we read a story together with Mrs Cooper about t-shirts.
The title of the story was T-Shirts.
The author is Estelle Corney.
The illustrator is Donovan Bixley.

Mrs Cooper helped us to write stories about our very own t-shirts. We are only just learning to write letters and words but we are feeling very proud of our terrific t-shirts that we have hanging in our classroom.

Come and read our superstar stories ...

Visting our School Library

Today we went to the school library.  We met the librarian.  Her name is Mrs Stubbings.  Our library got a makeover during the summer holidays.  Mrs Stubbings showed us around the new library.   She showed us the books that are good for us to browse and look at.

We can read our books on the new bean bags!
They are so comfortable!

We also found some colourful curvy seats to sit on.

Mrs Stubbings told us 5 children can sit in the middle at a time. We love the cosy wee spaces for reading!

We get to visit the school library every Thursday.  We choose one book each to take home for the week and one book each for our class bookshelf.

We are wondering what your school library looks like. Do you have cosy cushions or
secret spaces for reading?
