Harold the Giraffe Session Two

We went back to see Jo and Harold for our second visit.  We were very excited because Harold the Giraffe was going to his friend Jocko the Monkey's birthday party.

We helped Harold choose some healthy
food for Jocko to eat.

We had to help Jocko eat a balanced diet.
That means we eat a variety of food everyday.

We used the food pyramid to help us work out what foods we should eat lots of, what food we should eat sometimes and what food we should eat only as a treat.

We looked in Harold's shopping bag to see what he had bought.

We put all his shopping on the food pyramid to see if he was eating a balanced diet.
We learned that we should eat lots of fruit and vegetables and bread or rice or pasta every single day.  This food makes us healthy and gives us energy to run and jump and learn and play.

We learned that we should drink milk, and eat meat or fish or beans some of the time too.
This food makes our bones and teeth strong, and helps our muscles to grow.
We know that sugary foods and drinks are only treats and not an everyday food.  We should save treats for special occasions.
