Happy Fathers Day

We made special pictures for our E6 Dads today because on Sunday in New Zealand we are celebrating Fathers Day.

We thought about what our Dads are special and super at.  We had to tell our buddy why we thought our Dad was so super.

Then we wrote a special story about our Superhero Dads.  We took them home today to give to our Dads for Fathers Day.

Come and see our fantastic art work.

Skipper's Happy Tail - Shared Reading

Today in E6 we read together.  We read a story about a dog called Skipper.  Skipper wags his tail a lot and he gets into some trouble!

E6 have taken this book home tonight to read together with their families.  You can listen to the story here as you read.

E6, you could leave us a comment and tell what your favourite part of the story was!

Taylor's Snow Experiment

Taylor brought a special science experiment to school today.  She turned into Taylor the Scientist, and  told us all about how you make Fake Snow.

Taylor got to sit in the teachers chair.  We listened carefully and asked her some interesting questions.

Ashton asked "Where did you get the snow powder from?
Taylor said she got it at the Dowse Markets.

Megan asked "What does the snow powder look like?'
Taylor said she would come around the circle and let us see it up close.

Eva asked "Can you change the colour of the snow?"
Taylor said she didn't know, but maybe you could make it with food coloring in the water!  She said she might try this one day and tell us if it worked.
(fabulous thinking Taylor!)

Raphy asked "How does the snow powder turn into snow?"
Taylor said "you have to mix a little bit of the snow powder with a little bit of water and then it changes into snow".

Joshua asked "will it feel cold like real snow on a mountain feels?"
Taylor said "Maybe not that cold but the water is cold so it will probably feel a bit cold."

Taylor showed us the snow powder.

She said it was squishy and soft.
We thought it looked a bit like coconut that we
use when we are baking.
Taylor read the instructions to us so we could
make fake snow.
Taylor filled the little container with the snow powder. She said 'you can only fill the container to the blue line on the side of the container."
Next Taylor filled the little container up to the top with water.
Then the fake snow mixture started to erupt over the container and into the green water trough.
When the water mixed together with the fake snow powder it changed into snow.  We were amazed to see the snow grow and grow!

Taylor told us we could all make some fake snow and be amazed too!
She showed us how she picked it up and squished it
in her fists.

Taylor let Joshua have a turn at adding some water to the fake snow powder and we made some more snow.

We too turns to play with the snow.

Charlotte said "I can make circles in the snow with my finger."

Ashton and Jeven made a snow mountain!

Jerry loved touching the snow so much that he
started giggling
Jerry said "I can squeeze the snow. I can pat the snow.  It is funny on my hand".

Anika said "Hey I can squish the snow into little lumps."

Thank you Taylor for showing us you make fake snow!
